News Releases September
Release Date: Friday, February 26, 2010

An elderly Pensacola man died this morning after being stabbed in the chest by his wife.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the couple’s home at 3960 Kingsberry Dr.

Detective Danny Lawrence said Marion Kenneth Roberts, 72, was questioning his wife – Shirley Kent Roberts, 62 – about one of her recent medical bills. During the discussion, Shirley Roberts got a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband one time in the chest while he was seated in a chair.

Marion Roberts died at the scene. Shirley Roberts called police and waited in the home for officers to arrive.

A motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.

Shirley Roberts was booked into the Escambia County Jail on an open count of murder. She was held without bond.

This is the first homicide this year within city limits.
