A one-man crime spree came to a screeching halt this afternoon when an armed robbery suspect was apprehended after he stole a car at knifepoint from a woman.
The suspect also was wanted for carjacking a car Wednesday in Crestview.
Charles Blake Jackson, 24, no permanent address, was arrested around 3:15 p.m. He was charged with armed robbery and two counts of carjacking.
Around 3:05 p.m. today, Jackson approached a woman in the 700 block of Bayfront Parkway and demanded her car at knifepoint. The victim complied, the suspect got into the 2007 white Chevrolet Malibu she was driving and fled the scene.
Within minutes, Officer Greg Stone spotted the car on K Street near Government Street and radioed information to other officers as they converged on the area. The suspect was taken into custody at Pace Boulevard and Barrancas Avenue just before 3:15 p.m.
Jackson also was wanted for the armed robbery of Dollar General, 2601 W. Cervantes St., which occurred around 8:30 a.m. this morning after he entered the business, picked up a soft drink, put it on the counter, and passed a note demanding cash to the male employee.
Detective Shannan Fortenberry said the note claimed the suspect had a gun. The note also told the victim to put money into a bag. The store employee opened the register and the suspect reached across, grabbed some cash and fled the business in an unknown direction.
Fortenberry said Jackson also was wanted by the Crestview Police Department for a carjacking that occurred there on Wednesday.
