The Pensacola Police Department’s Special Projects Unit is responsible for producing training and recruiting videos, a weekly television segment for Crime Stoppers and the enhancement of surveillance tapes for area businesses victimized by crime. A crime prevention officer also is assigned to the unit. The unit is staffed by Officers Mike Wood (MWood@ci.pensacola.fl.us) and Jimmy Donohoe (JDonohoe@ci.pensacola.fl.us). Officer Donohoe, one of the department's crime prevention officers, handles a multitude of duties, among them logging runaway children into the computer system, safety presentations, supervising interns at the department, coordinating the Citizens Police Academy, and fascilitating the "Take Me Home" program.
Special Projects officers also provide a wide range of services to the community through such things as seminars for business and community groups.
