Cadet Program

Officer Jimmy Donohoe reviews some
paperwork with Cadet Adam Reece.

The Pensacola Police Department has a Police Cadet Program for males and females ages 18 and up who want to pursue careers in law enforcement.

Cadets are enrolled in a 4-year program working within the department and receive on-the-job training. They work a 40-hour week and are given preference in hiring at age 21 if they successfully pass all examinations required for police officer candidates.

Among cadet duties are: Directing traffic at vehicle accident scenes, completing offense reports for minor crimes, assisting with crime prevention presentations, and fulfilling routine obligations required by various department sections.

To qualify for the Cadet Program, an individual must attain a score of 12.0 or higher on the T.A.B.E. exam. For more information on the T.A.B.E. exam, please contact Training / Personnel or Civil Service at 435 - 1660.

For more information on the Cadet Program and/or T.A.B.E. testing, contact Officer Lonnie Isom at 850.435.1912 or by email at LIsom@ci.pensacola.fl.us.

Formal application must be made through Employee Services at City Hall, 160 Governmental Center, Pensacola, FL 32501.
